Selecting your wedding officiant is an important decision – after all, they will have a huge influence on the tone of the ceremony. You’ll want to make sure that you find someone who is willing to perform the kind of ceremony you are envisioning, or who has a style and belief system similar to your own. And of course, if you want to make it legal, you’ll need to make sure that they are legally able to marry you in your state.

The first thing you and your intended bride or groom must do is decide if you want a religious or secular ceremony. This highly personal decision will obviously impact who will marry you. Secondly, your wedding planner should have experience with officiants that are fitting for your union- they have excellent recommendations with personal relationships that can make sure you have the right person for your special day.

Questions to ask your prospective officiant:

  • How much are we allowed to customize the ceremony? Can we write our own vows?
  • Will you marry us even if we are not current members of your church/synagogue/etc? How do we become members?
  • If we are of different faiths, or one of us is not religious, is that a problem?
  • One of us is divorced, does your religion allow you to marry us?
  • Are we required to attend any classes or counseling before the wedding?
  • Will our non-religious friends be allowed to participate in the ceremony, including giving readings, singing, or (if appropriate) taking communion?
  • How will you be dressed for the ceremony?

In the Association of Bridal Consultants, Orange County we gather some of the top vendors in the area together to exchange helpful tools we have learned from working in the wedding industry. We held our meeting at the beautiful Casa Romantica in San Clemente, CA which featured its beautiful hideaways like the terrace facing the ocean and the indoor dining room. For the children we had one special entertainment option, we hired the Jumper’s Jungle Family Fun Center which we got two different ones and they were the boom of the entertainment, even the adults were playing in them, it was so fun and everyone enjoy them so much, we totally recommend them, they come and installed and then they take them so you don’t have to worry about a thing.

We worked with The Tangled Vine for florals.  Using vegetables, fruit, beans, and stunning flowers, you can see in the photos below how it was just stunning.  It was a great night to share stories and catch up with friends.

In this industry I come across some amazing talent and feel so strongly about showcasing my peers work. Videography is often times one of those services that couples choose to leave out of their budget because they don’t realize what a difference it is to have photos vs. film. I can’t say enough great things about Vantage Point Productions and their passion for creating heart-warming videos that capture the wedding day from getting ready before the ceremony to the bride and grooms departure at the end of the night. They are able to capture a play-by-play of a very special day for my clients and I am so grateful that I get to work with this incredible talent on a regular basis.

I regret not hiring a professional videographer. There were so many funny, sentimental, thoughtful, surprising, best-day-of-our-life moments that I wish were captured on video.”

Meet Diane & Jerry.  I had met Diane at a bridal show last year.  She was with her best friends – all Teachers!  I was so happy when she called me and we met one afternoon after school.  She brought her Ipad with tons of gorgeous photos to show me – she wanted a beachy, rustic, vintage feel with succulents.  After meeting the couple together, I knew it would be a very special wedding and it sure was.  The day was full of love and joy for these two……..

They had already booked the Historic Cottage which gave us a head start in planning and decor. They wanted a casual, beach wedding with a touch of elegance. SoHo Tacos were served for dinner and a Sweets Table with different delicious desserts!

They had a friend make all the clay pots and they made the succulents centerpieces and favors. They created a perfect decor for each table!

Wine barrel was used for the ceremony table and cake table, adding to the rustic beach decor.

They are a darling couple who were a joy to to work with…..
